Easter in the Philippines is celebrated with deep faith and unique traditions, especially during Holy Week (Semana Santa).
The most famous tradition is the actual crucifixion, where some devotees voluntarily allow themselves to be nailed to a cross.
There are also penitential processions, where people walk through the streets whipping their backs with chains or sticks.
Religious parades are held, featuring statues of Jesus, Mary, and other saints, accompanied by prayers.
Easter Sunday ends with a festive Mass and a symbolic meeting of Mary and the risen Jesus, known as Salubong.
All of this carries both religious and cultural significance.
